Yes, you are right, the CD's back then were not CATs if I remember correctly, so the tests were definitely not as good.
You may also have issues running them, though they were working on XP, so should be OK.

Thanks guys, this was of great help.. I really dont have the money to buy any other books/test so I'm gonna stick to this.. I think the old Kaplan CD test are indeed not CAT.. Were the subjects back them the same as the ones tested on the current GMAT?

Yes, the scope and the topics covered in GMAT are the same as there were in 2004.
