Hi all, got admitted to Rotman and McGill for their FT MBA programs. To give a little background, I want to get into product management at a tech company (preferably something in entertainment/media - Netflix, Spotify, etc). I have a huge passion for music, which I plan on pursuing as a hobby. I've been studying French throughout my academic years, so there's some familiarity with the language but I haven't been practicing or anything for the past few years. As an international student, getting permanent residence is important to me but since I completed my undergrad at a US institution, I'm still very drawn to being in the US as well. As a side note, I'm curious to know about how Rotman/Desautels places in US recruiting circles (specifically on the East Coast).
I'm also applying to US schools so would like some advice on the big "US vs Canada" B-school question. I've read many forums that claim the US has higher salaries and more opportunities, but I'm quite determined not to come back to my home country. At the same time, I've heard that internationals who complete their business degrees in the US typically don't have any issues with H1B visas especially if they get into tech. I'd like to think that moving from Canada to the US is not too difficult, but spoke to an alum recently who said that moving from the US to Canada is far easier, so wondering if this really holds true. In summary, this question is two fold - UToronto vs McGill and US vs Canada. Would be great to hear perspectives on either or both.
