kartickdey let me help you understand how option B is wrong. As per the argument, a comparison between N and E was done, and a contrast between their household energy use was noted. In N, the price is market-driven, and people are consuming less energy over the decade, whereas in E, the energy cost is subsidized, and the consumption in E is rising. Based on this finding, analysts suggest that this might be happening because in N, the people have to pay the price, and because of being price sensitive, they might be conserving the energy, whereas in E, there is a subsidy, so they are not conserving. These are possible reasons given by the analyst.

B. Despite rising incomes in Norvia, energy consumption per capita has declined, indicating that economic growth alone does not necessarily lead to increased energy use.

While looking at option B, "indicating that economic growth alone does not necessarily lead to increased energy use" is too strong, and giving a reason as a definite one, whereas, as per the argument, this was just a possible reason.

Hope this helps.

Bunuel I could not understand why B is wrong. It is stated in B that economic growth alone does not necessarily lead to increased energy use. So no general rule has beeb drawn because of the phrase "does not necessarily". Please explain.
