Can any current students shed some light on how to get into the value investing program? I am specifically interested in actions that can be taken prospectively after admittance to increase one's chances into the program.

If you don't know how to model, teach yourself how to build a 3 statement model. If you do know how to model then start working on building stock pitches. Also read Competition Demystified and Greenwald's Value Investing book. Joel Greenblatt's little books are good too since he teaches from those.

You need to demonstrate interest in value investing. Make sure you understand the industry well and can formulate a case for your transition into an equity investing role if you did not already work in a relevant position.
