Hi All,
I am taking mock GMAT exams these days and am planning to formulate a timing strategy for verbal section.
While analyzing a
Manhattan GMAT exam, I noticed that since I ran out of time on the last 9 questions, I had to randomly mark the answers to avoid bigger penalty of not completing the section. However, around question 32, my percentile score was 69% (14 incorrect till question 32) and by the time I completed the test, my percentile score dropped to 46%.
I have been following 'what if' scenarios thread on the forum and could understand that last 10 questions do not penalize much compared with errors committed in first 10 questions. I do understand that Manhattan might be using a different algorithm to ascertain the percentile and final GMAT score.
Since I could find a drop of 23% percentile on the test (V33-34 against V27), I just wanted to check whether this algorithm is followed on the final GMAT test or not. I generally tend to spend more time on the first 20 questions and then attempt last 21 in the rest of the time.
It will be extremely helpful to receive inputs on this as it will help me devise a better time management strategy for verbal section esp.
Cheers,
Kunal
