If 3 + x / 1- x = x

what is the value of x^2

-3

-1

0

1

3

First of all: rxs0005 please format the questions correctly.

If the question is indeed \(\frac{3 + x}{1- x}=x\) then \(3+x=x-x^2\) --> \(x^2=-3\), but such kind of equation CAN NOT occur on GMAT (square of a number can not equal to a negative number), remember GMAT is dealing only with Real Numbers: Integers, Fractions and Irrational Numbers.

Not a good question, so I wouldn't worry about it at all.

shaselai

ok, algebra is probably the best route for this prob since using plug in the answer the x^2 is kinda bad. This is one of those prob where it might take a bit longer if plugging

I wonder what real number can you plug for \(x\) equation \(\frac{3 + x}{1- x}=x\) to hold true?

I agree with Bunuel. Question was not formatted correctly. I tried using 3 + (x/(1-x)). Obviously I got incorrect equation
