Hi everyone,
I'm an international student studying finance in an unknown institution. I want to apply for Vanderbilt to get access to the network, get the STEM extension for my OPT, and also because I really like the school.
Here's my profile:
Senior double majoring in Finance and Information Systems, GPA 4.0
Haven't taken the GMAT (talked to the admission people and heard that there is a possible waiver so I'm applying for it), on the most recent mock test I scored 660
Work experience: E-commerce intern for a small ecommerce service company (summer 2020), Finance intern for a nonprofit organization in DC (summer 2021)
Extracurricular:
President of an International Business club
Treasurer of the International Student Association
Finance committee of a business fraternity. I also mentor a member in the fraternity and compete during the national convention, winning 1st place in one of the categories
Equity Analyst for the Student Managed Portfolio (starting next school year)
Honor and Award: I won several scholarships from the university and my fraternity which helps cover 70% of my tuition
My biggest concern is the GMAT, which is lower than the average. Given that I came from an unknown school (out of top 200 National Uni), is it a good move to waive the GMAT? I want to really focus on the essays and recommendations to stand out. With that said, is anyone here an alum from Vanderbilt MSF program? What have you done in your essays that you think help you the most in your application?
