Eh, I don't place too much emphasis in the US News rankings, especially in regard to Vandy's program. I think the most important aspect of evaluating b-schools is the placement data; when you compare Vandy's placement stats and recruiting companies to schools like Tulane, Pittsburgh, Georgia, Penn State, and BYU (all programs ranked higher), it's easy to question the methodology used by US News.

I also attended this weekend and was very impressed. Vandy is my top choice, but unfortunately I'm applying in the 3rd round w/ below average stats..

One thing I got from students and ad-com reps was that vandy is very 'round 3 friendly'..hope this is the case..

Nashville was greate too... I probably met some ya'll too!

Has anyone received an acceptance yet for round 2? They say they have rolling admissions after round 1 but I was wondering if they have started giving out acceptances yet.

I spoke with the adcom today as they contacted me to follow up and assure I finished my app. They told me not to expect anything until after the 15th of Feburary as the adcom is very busy with wrapping up interviews for the current round. So I wouldnt sweat it until late Feb.

I'm thinking about applying for round 3. I've been hesitating because I'm from the northeast and want to come back following graduation. Does anyone know how many of their students obtain jobs in New York - or even DC or Boston? I was actually planning to call them today and ask.

They place very well in IB at all the major BB firms. However, since they are so far away from NY, you have to do some legwork on your own rather than sitting back and waiting for all the on-campus presentations (that goes for all non-northeast schools outside UE/E clusters).

There is a Wall Street trek in Sep/Oct where you will tour all the major banks on the street, receive presentations, and drop resumes. I made sure to talk to as many IBers as I could this past weekend, and all of them agreed that the opps are available if you want them.

I actually spoke with a 1st year who left his IB job on "The Street" to go to Vandy. He said he will be returning and that Vandy has a good rep there. So if you are interested in finance Vandy is a good school to go to . That is of course if 1) you cannot get into a top tier program or 2) they are giving you money. IB is a tough market and brand is almost everything. Vandy carries its own weight but obviously Wharton or Chicago, etc. will help out a little more.

Just checked my status on the website and received and admit with a $20K scholarship...nice to know I have at least one admit. Kinda wished there was a little more money coming my way but hey at this point beggers cannot be choosers!
