Hi GMAT club,
Thanks a lot for all the posts, it is indeed a treasure for any GMAT aspirant. My problem currently is that I have been studying for about 2 months now and have mainly studied KAPLAN material along with the OG 12 but keep getting varying results on my CAT test. Here is a list of my scores:
KAPLAN GMAT 1 : 620 (Q42, V34)
KAPLAN GMAT 2: 630 (Q43, V35)
GMAT PREP 1 : 690 (Q46, V 38)
Have almost completed the OG.
I have been taking various other timed tests and scoring in the 75% accuracy range. My aim is to get to 750 and my strength happens to be quant. I am trying to reduce the number of errors on Math through practice but Quant seems to be the untamable dragon because my area of weakness keeps changing. SC and CR were my primary wekanesses (SC still seems to be) but i have been making mistakes on the RC section lately.
I know that this may sound a little arbitrary and there must be something wrong with my basics..but i wanted to see if anyone else has faced the same problem before and if there is ANY possible solution leading to consistent performance (apart from practice, which i have been doing a lot).

GMAT Prep is by far the most reliable indicator, so you are doing well!!!
Making mistakes all over, is an indicator of weakness in fundamentals and also attention-related mistakes. No easy way to fix the basics. Have to be methodical in your review. You can get MGMAT Guides for verbal: MGMAT SC, MGMAT CR and MGMAT RC - that's probably the best approach to being methodical but will take a while... not sure if you have that much time and effort..

I have gone through the grammer basics for SC and try to follow the methodology on the SCs, the only problem has been applying all the complicated rules in the 90s time frame. I used the KAPLAN GMAT Verbal Foundations book which seems like a good grammer resource but hasn't been a great help in terms of tactfully attacking the GMAT questions in particular.I have been doing good on the OG 12 about (80-85%) on the SC, but sometimes get lots in the wordier problems. I have placed an order for the MGMAT SC book and will have it by Tuesday. I still have about 3.5 weeks to go and am hoping to improve my score by 50-60 points.
