Hello everyone,
need your advice on my study for GMAT, esepcially on verbal. I start studying only 3 weeks back.
So far, I have completed all 5 paper test on ARCO '06. Scores typically at around 650-680. Just started to do some mini quiz on Kaplan. Not sure if Arco is a good gauge of my skill level?? anyone?
ARCO 2005, based on 5 paper tests Quant, strong: I have got only 1-3 careless mistakes.
Verbal, weak: Minimum of 10 wrongs, Max of 18 wrongs
Further analysis of my verbal:
RC: good
SC: Poor, expect a minimum of 3 wrongs. Average 5 mistakes.
CR: I DON'T KNOW!! If questions are your typical "strengthen/weaken question, main idea, assumptions", i am ok.
But i screw up each time the below 3 questions appear:
1) "if P, then Q". 2) "Which sentence parallels the above sentence" 3) "all A are B, some B are F, etc..."
So here's my questions which I hope some kind souls out there can help...
1) Is Arco is good gauge of my actual Quant level? If yes, i will concentrate on verbal.
2) I notice Kaplan do not ask the 3 type of questions (in red) which I mentioned. And even on Gmatclub, these questions dont appear so frequently. Can anyone advise if such questions really appear in GMAT?
3) Having being strongly recommended on LSAT, I like to know what skills LSAT targets on? only CR? what about SC?
4) I like to get Mahatten guide on SC as strongly recommended by valleyball, but realistically I still have loads of books to complete. Eg OG11, Kaplan800, Kaplan2006 (which I just started). I plan to take GMAT on Jan06. So I might not have time to finish so many books. Any comments? Any other recommendations other than mahatten?
Thanks for your advise! and taking time to read this long post of mine...
Best Cordialement,
Vic

for the three questions --> I don't think that they really appear on the GMAT. (Senior members, pls comment ?? )
Arco --> since you already have so many good books with you just move on and do Kap 2006 completely. By the time your reach the end, you will have the ans.
for maths take the challanges, you will know where you stand.
I like the review abt manh. SC book and have ordered myself, so can't say much abt that.
My advice is that you can add the Princeton review also to the set of books which you are doing. So that will give you quite a range.
Second, make sure you keep coming to this forum and try and answer few quetions every day . It will help you in getting a grip on verbal.
