My target score in V40+.

Consider working on your solving approach. May sound strange but it's a lot of what I actually tutor verbal students targeting that range. At around a V38 level, for example, a person likely has strong fundamentals already.

How to get a V40 or higher on the GMAT? What about a V51?

Hi Vinamra6,

Many GMATers spend 3 months (or more) of consistent study time before they hit their 'peak' scores, so if you've been studying for just 1 month, it's likely that you just have not put in enough time and effort to score higher yet (and you might very well improve over time as you continue to study). In addition, when reviewing your performance in the Verbal section, how often are you 'narrowing the answers down to 2 choices and then "guessing"?' I ask because the probability dictates that you're going to get about half of those questions wrong - so the more often you approach questions in that way, the tougher it will become to score at a really high level in that section. Thankfully, the Verbal section is as consistent and predictable as the Quant section is, so you CAN train to score at a higher level.

Before I can offer you any additional advice for your studies, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

Studies:
1) How long have you studied? How many hours do you typically study each week?
2) What study materials have you used so far? What “brands” of CATs/mocks have you used?
3) Have you taken any other CATs/mocks besides these two? On what dates (or approximate dates) did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?

Goals:
4) What is your overall goal score?
5) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?

Hi EMPOWERgmatRichC,

1-I have took leaves from office and have been studying from past one month, almost 8 hours daily. I only study verbal as my quant is already sorted. I had earlier appeared for GMAT in 2020 and scored 710 with Q50V35.

2- Study material used are mostly Egmat videos, Manhattan Guide and some sessions of private tutoring for SC. I have completed OG and Verbal review. Other than a the 4 official mocks, I took one free Manhattan mock and the free Experts Global Mock. In last 4 days I have done every question of OG again , with an accuracy of 83%. 31 were incorrect out of 186. Created an error log as well for the incorrect questions.

3-Details of Mock I took-

GMATPrepMock1 5/9- V32
GMATPrepMock2 5/16- V36
MGMAT1 5/21- V40
GMATPrepMock3 5/23- V35
ExpertGlobalMock 5/26- V35
GMATPrepMock4 5/28- V35

4-My Overall goal score is 740+, for which I need V40+

5- My top two schools are ISB and NUS. Targeting this September.

Is there an area in Verbal that has consistently emerged as a weaker area for you Vinamra?
