Has anybody taken any of the princeton review courses? I know they're expensive, and I don't want to sign up unless I know they are useful. I don't feel like the Kaplan book has helped me. I know I improved my grammar, but not enough to do well on the GMATs.

I took the Princeton Review course back in October of 2002 and was disappointed. I found the material to be extremely basic. When my class questioned the instructor about the simplicity of the material that we were covering she stated that PR doesn't teach material, rather their goal was to instruct students to develop a certain mindset when the approach the GMAT. What a cop out if I ever heard one.
Given my experience I would suggest that you invest the money that your willing to spend on the Princeton Review course and purchase PR & Kaplan study guides. Given the fact that the PR course costs around $1,000 up here in Toronto I'm guessing that it is around the same price where you are and for $1,000 you can purchase all the materials you need and have money to spare. BUT I DO NOT RECOMMEND THAT YOU TAKE THE PRINCETON REVIEW PREP COURSE. It is extrememly basic and it will leave you seriously unprepared for the GMAT. If you don't wanna go the route of self-study I suggest you take Kaplan's prep course. I have heard many great things about Kaplan especially that it tends to cover extremely difficult material leaving you adequately prepared for the real GMAT.

Thank you! I really appreciate your opinion! I will look around and try to study on my own. $1000 is just too much to gamble with.
