1) Over the last 6 months, what type of study routine have you been following? How many hours do you typically study each week?

I use to study 25hrs per week atleast, that too only for verbal. I hardly prepared for quants as I was always afraid of scoring less in Verbal.

2) What study materials have you used so far? What “brands” of CATs/mocks have you used?

Intially I purchased gmat videos (don't want to mention name) but I felt they are very lengthy and couldn't finish watching all the videos and got expired. Later I started preparation on my own and thought I can improve my score in verbal.

1st I thought by solving more questions I can improve that went on for 2 months atleast just solving questions 1000 series but score was not improving.

2nd I started reading Manhatan & gmatclub notes intially I felt I made mistake not knowing sc rules I solved 1000 series but even after finishing coudn't improve in verbal I am scoring 20

3rd now I thought I need to join classes online and follow proper plan for verbal so that I can atleast score V 29 in the main exam and quants anyways I am scoring V 48 - V50

3) On what dates (or approximate dates) did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?

April 4th - Q 48, V 13 (MBA.COM)
April 14th - Q 49, V 29 (MBA.COM)
May 15th - Q 48 , V 19 (Kaplan)
June 2nd - Q 50 , V 19 (Mba.com)

Goals:
4) What is your overall goal score?

I will be really happy if I can score V 29/30 so that I can start focusing on Quants for 50/51.

Overall target score 660 - 680

5) What Schools are you planning to apply to?

I want to get into Babson with full / with 70-50% scholarship. Reason for choosing Babson after lot of research I found the resources there are inclined to my area of interest.

If not Babson I am looking for HKU/CHKU.

Hi akhil1895,

Based on the information that you've provided so far, I have a few follow-up questions.

1) Have you taken any of the Official CATs/mocks more than once?
2) Are you planning to take the At-home GMAT or are you planning to take your GMAT at a Test Facility?
3) Are you planning to apply to School later on this year? If you are, then do you know the specific application deadlines yet?
4) Going forward, how many hours do you think you can consistently study each week?

Assuming that your current 'ability level' is in the high-500s, you will likely need at least another 1.5 - 2 months of consistent, guided study before you'll be able to consistently score in your Goal 'range' - and you'll have to make significant improvements to how you handle BOTH the Quant and Verbal sections. Thankfully, the GMAT is a consistent, predictable Exam so you CAN train to score at a higher level. Going forward, you would likely find it beneficial to work on some Quant and some Verbal each week though (as opposed to the "all of one, then all of the other" that you're currently doing). You'll likely find it easier to retain everything overall if you're consistently working on a mix of Quant and Verbal subjects.

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
Rich
