Hey all,
please help me !!!need quidance .. today i took a 800 scores test
i ended up getting 36 questions in quant right and

28 in verbal... i verbal inspite of days of practice my score is not peaking .. i got 7 out of 14 RCs wrong and 7 out of 14 scs wrong !!i had done manhattan but in few of the scs i dot find scope for rules !!
what should i do !!!how should i go about the verbal preparation !!!i have another 10 days !!can anyone help me plan my preparation
i want a good score 700+ !!previously i aimed for 750 types but over the time verbal is really pathetic !!
please guide me!!how to tackle the stress in RCs ?and Also how to attack SCs

Check what "types" of errors you are doing. Unless you identify the pattern, you will not know what is going wrong. If its concepts, then it will take longer than 10 days. If its a matter of focus, then you know what to do.

Its just In scs i come across differewnt types of rules ,i had done Mahattan !!!
its not much of concept ,its like when we are left with final two options
i end up selecting or eliminating the wrong one !!
In RCs almost always its focus and inference questions !!i lose patience
while reading the RC !!!not able to maintain the cool !!
is there any way to improve concentration and also for scs any suggestions !!

First, don't measure yourself based on 800Score tests. They are completely unrepresentative. So are Manhattan tests.

I am also facing the same problem on SC. Is it very difficult for us (non-natives) to pick up all the rules/idioms used in American English. Trust me there are TOO many rules to remember.

I have my exam in 3 days(YEah !!) and I am very low in confidence right now. I would suggest you to work on as many GmatPrep SCs and OG SCs. Learn as much as you can from OG explanations. Focus ONLY on OFFICIAL material. DO NOT waste time on non-official problems.

For RC. calm down, read slowly. The better you understand the passage, the better your accuracy. It is OK to spend 3-5 mins(depending on length and density of the essay) just to read the passage.

How comfortable are you in CR ?

Strengthen RC and CR is the best advice I can give you right now. For SC, as I said, Focus ONLY on official material.

My suggestion for RC is to spend 4 minutes on reading the passage.Read actively and look for structure . Once you understand the passage completely it is easy to pick the answer.

Thats great !!3 days !!! oops u have 72 hrs :) anyways yes rightly said said even i wonder SCs which had done in 800 scores is not upto mark ,quite ambiguous .again Yes im doing official material have some 200 questions left in official guide !!ll cover them ,i had doe manhattan,its actually good for sc.
Regarding RC yes panic is the enemy right now ,i think as u said i should be quite calm with my score and result since ultimately more calm v are better is the performance !!
again Yes in CR ,till now i had faired well ,sometimes i messup in last choices but 90 % above is the accuracy in CR
in RC accuracy is 50%
SC it actually fluctuates !! sometimes 90%,80% 70% this time 50%

Any more strategies which i can go for now .

hey... i am not a verbal whiz my myself...
i was getting stuck similar score again and again...!

But here is what helped me.

1. Read the explanation to your RIGHT and WRONG answer choices very carefully. and you will realise.... that may be you are looking at the wrong sections of the sentence to determine your answer.
Every question has a theme and 9-10 times if you catch the theme... you will see that 2 or 3 options will be wrong. So spend the time you have in choosing between the 2-3.
The error can be something as simple as a sentence with a wrong placing of - as...X as...Y.
2. Dont panic.
3. And just get a basic.. basic grammar book.. it will take you a couple of hours to skim through it...but it helps in brushing up the essentials !!!

All the Best Amit. No need 2 panic. at this moment the best thing to do is relax....................My advice: Dnt attempt new questions on the last day. Also do not give any test on last day. just brush up concepts. And 1 more thing during the test when a section is over,stp thinking abt it. Rather make up ur mind for the next section. For eg after AWA, during 10 minutes break start thinking abt quant.terms like algebra, geometry,etc etc. believe me it really works.Im sure u will rock :P

Oh thats grt !!thanku so much
I try to be chill these days just going through the posts attempting questions ,i daily jog for 40 minutes and ciome back attempt 1000SCs ,CRs .... i dont do RCs donno why ,only in tests !!!but ll start doing them soon!!!
yes i think i will do only official questions !!

regarding SC ,yes i have noticed once we get the type of mistakes we do we can obviate them the very next time ,infact there must be only one right choice among 5 choices ......

Will update you with teh progress... today attempted few 1000SC questions got most of them wrong .. will post them soon !!!

One thing i dont get it is SC fundae are actually vast in numbers ,i actually have come across large number of different types of questions but still get Questions which are totaly different ...

But yes practice will make everything perfect !!!
