I was reading some writeups online about experimental questions. They seems to appear randomly in a test. However, it there some kind of pattern that these questions mostly appear say after the 10th question (and not before), i.e., after GMAT is starting to know you better?

I guess nobody quite knows but still I thought I will ask, just in case, there is a spy in this forum working undercover with GMAT ppl :p Doesn't harm asking, does it? :)

I Doubt there are recognizable patterns! If we could know that, we all would have scored an 800.

I think I read somewhere that if you are doing well on the test, chances that you get an experimental questions in the last 6-8 questions is less because testmakers take into account that if you had spent additional time on early questions, you are most likely to rush towards the end and make several guesses. So, in order to penalize for such a possibility the experimental questions towards the end could be less in this case. but.. dont kill me for this as no one knows the algo (except ofcourse the makers) :lol:
