I think i have a silly question:
My understanding of Present Participles (-ing) is that they are verb-adj forms (part verb + part adj) that are used to "modify" nouns, verbs or clauses.

In the sentence "I am running". Is "running" a present participle form or a Gerund? ...here the word is "running" modifying something - I (?)

Thanks for your help
