very low IR score...pls suggest

Hello all,

I gave my GMAT yesterday and scored 690 (Q:49 ; V:35). The saddest part is that I scored only 1 (0 percentile) in IR. I used to score 4~5 in every mock test and suddenly I scored nothing in IR in the actual test. I am planning to apply for Singapore schools i.e., NTU and NUS. What effect will this have on my application?How do these schools view IR score? I seriously do not know the ill effects of such a disastrous IR section. Please help!!!!!!!!!!!1

Hi GMATassasin,

I'm not exactly sure how Business Schools in Singapore will individually view your IR score, but I can tell you that many Schools in the United States have publicly stated that an applicant's IR score is NOT a factor at all in the admissions process. As such, my guess is that you're probably fine. While IR score is not as important as Verbal and Quant -- a 0th percentile score will certainly stick out in the minds of admissions. At 690, it may not be worth it to retake the test. But if you were any lower than 680, I would recommend a retake as the IR score doesn't have to be stellar -- but at the same time, you don't want to draw negative attention to it. A score of 4 or 5 would be fine. A 1 sticks out.

The IR is not that important but if they notice that you have 0 percentile it is impossible that it will have a positive or even neutral effect...how did you prepare for the IR?
