I just took the free kaplan test that is available online. Is it a true CAT exam?
I scored a 620 (39Q 39V). A little discouraged with the result as it was below my average. I missed 7 questions on the quant, and 10 on verbal.
From what I have read, it seems like this is a common problem as KAPLAN's scoring is a little weird, but needless to say, I am worried. But then again, I registered the score on the GMAT "score predictor" on this site and it said I was in the 700 range.
What do I believe? Any words of encouragement or suggestions would be great.
D-Day is in 16 days.

I've heard that the free kaplan test is much harder than the real thing and scores conservatively. Many test prep companies make their diagnostic/free tests harder, so that you purchase their courses.
I haven't taken the Kaplan diagnostic, but I've taken the Kaplan CATs that come with Kaplan Premier Book's CD (and also online). If you post your scores on that, probably more people can chip in with their thoughts. The standard disclaimer is that GMATPrep is the best indicator. Have you given these two official CATs?

Our free test is NOT a true CAT. It's intended to give prospective students and beginning students a general sense of there abilities--specifically, their strengths and weaknesses within the verbal and quantitative sections. It produces a generally accurate score, but it's not as precise as the CATs included with Kaplan Premier or a Kaplan GMAT Advantage course.
I wouldn't count on the 700 from the GMAT predictor, which is based on an older Kaplan algorithm no longer in use. But that said, I wouldn't worry either--even 16 days is enough to significantly improve your score.
