It becomes more difficult to improve after a certain level. Going from a 20 to 30, for example, is easier than 40 to 50 in math. But you should also strive for a more balanced score; a 50Q, 38V might be opportunity for tough admissions officers looking for mistakes in one's application.

Forgive me for such speculation, but it seems that you might be putting all of your eggs in one basket. It's good that math is your strong point, but please don't neglect the verbal. In fact, you should probably focus relatively more on that section.

Good luck!

Welcome back! Since you have taken such a long break, it will be interesting to see how you fare on your second attempt. But a 670 is by no means bad at all (assuming, of course, that the verbal and quant scores were roughly in balance).

What do you plan to do differently this time?
Thanks. I belong to the large pool of India IT Males and giving GMAT another shot since there is still lot of time for R1 applications to open and a higher score would boost my chances, even though only slightly .
Previous sectional scores were decent(Q47 V 35) , however , i believe i can stretch the quant score to 50 and maintain a similar score in verbal.
Working out ways to improve quant scores presently, any tips would be hugely appreciated. :o

I agree with bmillan01. Those are some points to think about. Many 'Indian IT males' get 49-51 in Quant. Just a Q50 doesn't give you an edge. Instead if you can score V40 above, that will be more appreciated by the admissions committee (also it will make your score more balanced). Plus, it will not be very hard to go from 35 to 40 on Verbal. Some focused effort on CR and some practice in RC and SC should improve your score.
