I think you need to assess and find out where you stand right now, and then see what path to choose to destination, say HBS median GMAT, which is 730 something..
Download GMAT Prep from mba.com, take one of the test and find what your score is.. that will tell you how much you need to improve and in what areas specifically.
Manhattan GMAT books + OG are good enough to lay a solid base for most people. of course, mock tests and practice will come later..
I think you will be able to look for better directions once you have taken a GMAT prep test as diagnostic :)
