Hi all,
I've recently completed
MGMAT's 8 week course and am looking for some guidance on how I should spend my remaining 6 weeks before my test. I started with a 580 (Q28 V40) and most recently scored 700 (Q45 V40). I've focused mainly on quant since that was my major point of weakness. In verbal, there's room for improvement in all sub-categories (e.g. SC, RC, CR). Ideally, I'd like to score around V45 to be comfortably in the 730/740 area, but I'm having difficulty making improvements.
I've completed the OG12, OG Quant supplement, and all
MGMAT study materials.
My plan for the future is:
1. Take a practice test every other week (I have 2
MGMAT and 2 GMAT prep remaining)
2. Go through
MGMAT's advance quant book
3. Continue
error log4. Study at least a little verbal every day to keep it fresh
I don't have a concrete studying plan, which is something I was hoping you guys could provide some feedback on. I'm especially interested in opinions of study time split between verbal and quant, but any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jason
I think you should mix between quant and verbal but focus on one thing per week: 5 days for quant ; 2 days for verbal or sth like that.
Verbal: I think you should focus more on SC. SC is pattern. The more you do, the more you will be accustomed to it , leading to higher accuracy and speed. Reading
MGMAT SC one more time, review the theory as well as your weakness. Try to solve SC problems in our forum may give you chances to find your weakness and increase your knowledge. Having a good SC skill will give you more time on difficult CR and RC problems.
If you want to improve CR, I suggest buying CR Bible. About RC, reading newspaper helps me a lot. Their contexts are the same to those of GMAT, and knowledge from reading sometimes help me make educated guess on CR...
Accuracy first, timing later.. And remember to review your weaknesses and your strengths regularly.
Quant: You have a good base so that you should practice, practice and practice. You may want to try
GMAT Club tests . Another option are challenges in our forum's quant section. You will find a lot of material and practices there.
Hope it helps.
