I have a wierd question, but wanted to make myself clear.

Since the format changes after 5th of June, I am sure lot of GMAT course instructors will take the exam to get a feel of integrated reasoing. And lot of them tend to score better than the regular students in existing sections (Verbal and Quant) too. Having the instructors at the high end of the scores does hurt the %tile for regular students as most part of the regular students score lower than the most part of the instructors. Is this a correct statement?

I assume %tile works similar to GPA. If not, then appreciate if someone can explain me how %ile works.

Interesting question i must say. From what i have heard, the gmat score (on 800) is based on last 2-3 yrs data and not of the instantaneous data. So in the scenario that you present i think percentile will not be affected that much. On the contrary there is an unusual rush to get gmat done before june 5th. this no should be larger than the no. of instructors taking test post june 5th. Thus the percentile would actually balance out if not dip lower. but this is just the way i think.

GMAC resets the table every 2 or so years, so yes, I would assume there will be some inflation but at the same time I do not see a reason for them to release a table like that after the June 5th date.

I doubt tutors/instructors will inflate the scores meaningfully enough. The people who do inflate it, are the ones who prep better, and study more, and have more tools than those who did back in 2002.

I think GMAC actually has a pretty tough case -do they make the test harder ( to counteract some of the tools now available) or do they keep the test as is and keep inflating it. I would bet a bit of both is going on.... just a guess (no evidence behind this really).

Agreed. Pre-June test taker numbers are going to be super high

Hey,
does the %ile calculation matters that much.
A good score would get you in a good school rite...

Further, i thought only a new Integrated Section would be added.
Is the difficulty level of other sections going to change as well.?
Considering the difficulty changes as per ones ability, i don't think there should be
much change in that..

well yes percentile matters especially in the top 10 schools! they expect you to have more than 80 percentile in each section.
