What happens when you dont press the NEXT button?

Question

Sounds too stupid to be true, right?

Long story short, I hadnt practiced AWA before and took my GMAT yesterday. I did fairly well in attempting the AWA and I guess I wrote a decent essay too but didnt check the time and didnt click on the NEXT button. The time got over and it gave me a pop-up. As soon as I clicked OK it took me into the IR section. Does that mean my essay isnt submitted? Am I really that screwed? :shock:

It should have been saved as you go into the next section. I highly doubt this *bug* is not fixed on the real GMAT test. If time is up, it will (close to very sure) capture what you have and save that as your submission. So, don't worry too much.

i don't think so there was any kind of happening is created when NEXT button is display on screen i think it is stupid question you ask .................................................

Just an update: I received my official score yesterday and even though I didnt click on 'Next' after my AWA, my essay was still counted and I received decent scores on AWA (5) and IR (7)

Could you please let me know what happens in math and verbal section if you dont click confirm and next on the last question? Does it register the selected option or does it take the section to be incomplete?

I'd like to know too. I didn't have a chance to press the next button, but I had selected one of the answer choices - and I'm pretty confident it was the right choice.

Hi Dumsy_1711,

If you want to be absolutely sure, your ESR (free for the Focus Edition, paid for the previous version of the GMAT) will tell you how many questions you solved in each section. For example, the ESR for the previous version will say something like "You completed 36 questions in the Verbal section" (page 6).
