I've gone through the Manhattan GMAT introductory guide and the books dedicated to each topic on the test (Geometry, probabilities/combinatorics, etc) I have been slaving away at them - some parts I understand while I feel other sections don't do a good job at explaining the material or going over enough of it. It's hard to explain, but it seems that even after spending so much time on those books, I'm not mastering the material. While I know a good amount of what is on the test, I feel that I need something much greater than a review - closer to what someone would study if they wanted to master the basics all the way through to what would be considered 700 material.

Does anyone have suggestions on material I could look at for an in depth review and education on the quant portion of the test? Does anyone have study tips or tricks or strategies on how to approach studying? Also, does anyone know of classes in the NYC area that focus specifically on quant material? I'm not looking for tips or tricks for the test, but rater something that focuses solely on the math.

By introductory part do you mean foundation material, mgmat got a good book on foundation and advance quant...

Else you can also consider Veritas guides- by far they are the best in quant in terms of indepth theory and practice questions.

You can also consider Gmat club tests.

I already have the MGMAT guides. They are mostly good, but I feel that in order to do well with this material I will need to learn it almost as if I am back in school. With a lot of review of all materials covered...maybe not even review, but actually learning what I need to know.

I am a HUGE fan of Magoosh. They did a great job of teaching me the material and how to solve the problems on the GMAT. I believe they have a free trial of some of their math lessons.

The big thing for me is that they offer a video explanation for EVERY SINGLE PRACTICE QUESTION. That's huge. For me, I needed not only a good foundation, but lots of examples of how problems were solved (especially Rate & Mixture questions).

PS Also try Khan Academy GMAT (free resource) where the instructor solves every single OG GMAT Quant questions.

You may want to check out some of the word problems and combinatorics we have on: https://www.gmatpill.com/gmat-practice-t ... -questions

For many of the questions - we ask the same question with different angles - so you can see how slight modifications in the question may result in slightly different calculations.

In terms of planning your studies - if quant is your weakness - focus on the easy stuff first by topic. Master it completely before moving on.

For example, master the basic algebra questions first - before you move onto sequence/number property questions. Spend an entire day or two on rates before you move onto combinatorics.

Focused studying combined with review right before you go to bed as well as immediately upon waking up - can help to optimize your retention.
