Does anyone have an estimate of how the scores on the OG Diagnostic test correlate with subsection Q and V scores?
I know the caveats: the Diagnostic test isn't adaptive, it is not as strenuous as the full 4 hour CAT, we don't know exactly how the algorithm works, etc... But, there should be some prediction here. In the directions it says, "The statistical reliability of scores on the Diagnostic Test ranges from 0.75 to 0.89, and the subscale classification is about 85%-90% accurate." That still sounds pretty good, so we should be able to give a range to "Excellent," "Above Average," and so on.
I'm asking because I have taken all the GMATPrep CATs, am going to sit a retake, and want to gauge what, if any, progress I've made.
My scores:
PS: 19/24 - Excellent, borderline Above Average.
DS: 20/24 - Excellent, borderline Above Average.
RC: 16/17 - Excellent, borderline Above Average.
CR: 14/17 - Excellent, borderline Above Average.
SC: 18/18 - Excellent.

Hi jz4analytics,
You seem to understand how that pencil-and-paper Diagnostic doesn't really 'match up' with what you will experience on the Official GMAT, so trying to use that Diagnostic score result and translate it into a pair of Scaled Scores (or as a predictor of how you would perform on the Official GMAT) is problematic. That data could probably be used to define what you COULD score on the Official GMAT (if you performed to the best of your ability), assuming that you're properly trained to handle all of the other factors that occur on Test Day, but I don't believe that there's any type of data to define what you're looking for.
As it stands, you seem to have a strong ability across all categories, so content knowledge and 'skill' isn't what's missing in your case. Like so many Test Takers who score in the high 600s or 700s, the missing points you're looking for are 'nitpick' issues that cannot be defined by that Diagnostic.

Going by the scores that you have posted here, I feel there is not a lack of understanding in the fundamentals. What you need to up your score from 700 is an understanding of the nuances and the factors that affect your performance on the GMAT.
The best you can take out of the scores in Diagnostic test is that you are good at all the sections. And this is a good take away
Try to attempt a fresh mock CAT as retaking the CATs will give you an inflated score. You can buy two additional ones from mba.com.
