I will be taking the GMAT exam in two days. I am nervous although I know that this is just a "very real practice test" for me because I am not ready.
From what I understand is that they made one very important change since I took the exam the first time 3 years ago, namely you can now cancel your score right then and there after you are done with the test. So does this mean it will NEVER show up on any report I will have sent to business schools in the future?
My first and only score from 3 years ago was a 560 which I know is a laughable result to most of you, but my initial plan was to accept any score on Wednesday that is higher than 560. After reading through the forum a little bit I am having doubts whether this is the right strategy or not. What if I do end up taking the GMAT 5 times before I score 660 or above? Then I will have all these other scores on my report which will probably look bad. I should probably just cancel the score if it is below 600. I mean do I really want to have a 570 or 580 show up on my report especially since I already have 560? What do you all think?
Added: I just read another post here and now I am really confused. So the cancellation does show up as a cancellation on a later score report? So what's the point then of cancelling the score if the test attempt will show up on the official report that is sent to schools?

No, cancelations do not show up on your score report per the latest update/ change.
It is not really material anymore whether you keep or cancel your score. Since cancellations no longer show up, seeing a score report with a single 700+ score, Schools don't really know whether the person took the test once or 10 times and canceled the previous 9.
Also since you can resurrect your score for a humble $50 fee, as long as you have money, and it sounds like you do because you're taking a test knowing that you're not ready, you absolutely can cancel the test unless it's the score you need. Just make sure you save the print out with the score on it and the date so that two years later when you need to restore this particular score you can look it up on the print out. As of recently learned when you try to restore the score, it does not actually show you what's score it was simply a date when you took the test.
Go and take the test boldly. You actually don't even have to decides to cancel it at the test center you know have 72 hours to make that decision after taking the test

Actually, I didn't reschedule the test because I don't have $ 250 to waste.
I tried to reschedule last week. I naively thought this would be possible until right before the test date for a "humble" fee of $50. I found out that this is in fact not the case. If the test date is less than 10 days out they will charge the full fee for rescheduling and that's exactly why I decided I would take the exam although I am not ready. I didn't want to throw away my money like that.
So that's also a good thing to know for everyone here (although I am sure most people already know).... rescheduling is only possible for a fee of $50 until 10 days before test day.
