Dear Experts and Fellow Members of GMAT Club,

I took the GMAT for the first time last week and I would like to share my experience with you all. When I started my preparation for GMAT 3 months back, I majorly concentrated on verbal. Being a non native speaker, I knew my weakness. I read all the relevant books - Manhattan for SCs and RCs, Powerscore for CRs. I solved all the problems of OG and many 700+ level questions of GMAT club verbal forum. I gave Kaplan's 6 CATs and got scores of 31, 33, 34, 31, 36 and 38 in verbal section. I was confident that I would score well (altleast 35+) in the verbal section in actual GMAT.

But when I got my actual scores - it read Q50, V27. V27???? I got 31 in the first CAT I ever took. Now, I am not able to understand what went wrong and what should I do now. My target score is 720+ and I need some guidance on what should I do to get that score. I am ready to do ANYTHING and EVERYTHING to get to that score.

Waiting for some enlightening replies. Thanks.

Hi CaptainJackSparr0w,

It's the GMAT Algorithm at play. It's your test day experience.

Which difficulty level questions you got wrong.
Which set did you get those questions wrong in
Were you even offered higher difficulty level question

To analyse your GMAT experience, specially when exam day memory is fresh in your mind, you must spend $25 to get the ESR. It should help you know what went wrong in verbal. Once you receive the ESR report, Post it to get it reviewed.
