Query regarding Gmat 3 months preparation plan 05 May 2018, 07:19

As suggested by bb regarding gmat 3 months preparation plan, quant should be dealt first for the first month and verbal on the second. My question is, if I study only quant for the first month, will I forget the quant concepts/lose the momentum over time on quant in the coming months when preparing for verbal? Can I study quant and verbal simultaneously in the 3 month preparation plan?

Hi
The study plan may vary from person to person. If you are comfortable study Quant and Verbal in alternate weeks. Or else you need to keep revising the Quant and study Verbal simultaneously. All depends on what works best for you.

Take the GMATPrep CAT. Get an idea of your comfort areas from both and quant. Do not be too focussed on score at this time.
Pick up what seems to be really tough for you.
Whatever be the case, start READING and do couple of RCs (verbal) everyday from day 1. Because this is area that takes longest to improve for most individuals.

Strategies

You can start with Quant or Verbal which suits you. If you have started with Quant then Start with the Arithmetic but if started with verbal then start first with Sentence correction. One month for learning Quant concepts and one month for practicing question and same practice for Verbal. During you Practicing question don't forget to make an error log to track your weak areas after practice. Once you know your weak areas revise your Concepts related to those areas and do some more Practice. 6-8 CATs are enough for practice the real tests. Make your Stamina for sitting 3 hours in the test and don't study more than 2 hours in one sit and 4 hours per day

Some test takers prefer to work on one thing at a time, while others like to work on both the quantitative and verbal sections. Generally, I'd suggest that you do a bit of both. Otherwise you might end up getting bored or "stuck". And, as you mentioned, it's possible that you'll lose a bit of what you had picked up when you move on to the second section.

Hi hemant95,

You would likely find it beneficial to do 'some Quant and some Verbal' each week though (as opposed to the "all of one, then all of the other" that you're asking about) and you would likely find it easier to retain everything overall if you're doing a mix of subjects.

Based on your initial CAT Score and Score Goal (which you discussed here: https://gmatclub.com/forum/first-gmat-p ... l#p2052986), you will likely need at least 3 months of consistent, guided study - with far more than just 1 month devoted to each of the Quant and Verbal subjects.

1) When are you planning to take the GMAT?
2) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
3) What Schools are you planning to apply to?
