hi guys thanks for both replies - very appreciated.
Yes i have been practicing with this method for a long time now and have been scoring consistently 740. I might lose a bit of time checking the clock too often but it is nevertheless necessary for me.

1 - so if it is not allowed i don't think it is worth taking the risk..
2 - Ok so that could be very annoying if they do replace my notebook...

Any people can give more insights about their actual GMAT and procedures ?

Well it totally depends on center. In my center the booklet was not replaced. So if I wanted I could have written things down.
Even if the booklet is changed, you can return to your seat 1-2 mins before the start of the next section and use that time to put down your notes for the section, be it VA or QA.
