How long to read Manhattan books?

Hi all,

Pretty new here so i am not sure i'm posting this at the right place.

I want to take the exam in 2 months. I just received my Manhattan books today and was wondering on the ratio of time spent on reading versus solving. Obviously i have bought the original guides as well but want to finish readings first before i attempt them. 
My question is this : How long should I spend on reading the Manhattan books and how long only doing questions and taking tests before I sit the exam? I study 4-5 hours per day so 2 months, max 3 should be enough to break 710-720.
Should I do 1month readings and 1 month solving? Or maybe 2weeks reading and 6 weeks solving and reviewing?

I actually already responded to your elsewhere but I can reiterate my thoughts. Regarding your study plan, I think a good path forward is to follow a linear study plan that allows you to learn each GMAT quant and verbal topic individually and then practice each topic until you’ve gained mastery. In other words, do a mix of learning and practice. Regarding your timeline, without any data it’s tough to say whether 4 to 5 hours a day for 2 months will be sufficient for you to achieve your 710+ goal score. So, can you take a full-length MBA.com practice exam to get a baseline score? Once you do so, feel free to report back here with your score breakdown, and I can provide some further advice. Hi Sevil,

To start, many Test Takers spend 3 months (or more) of consistent study time before they hit their 'peak' scores, so it's likely that you just have not put in enough time and effort yet. In addition, the 700+ Score is approximately the 90th percentile - meaning that most GMATers will never score that high (and by extension, a study plan that is 2-3 months long has no way of "guaranteeing" you that type of result). This is all meant to say that you might need to adjust your timeline at some point.

Since it sounds like you're just beginning your studies, then it would be a good idea to take a FULL-LENGTH practice CAT Test; you can take 2 for free at www.mba.com (and they come with some additional practice materials). If you want to do a little studying first, so that you can familiarize yourself with the basic content and question types, then that's okay - but you shouldn't wait too long to take that initial CAT. That score will give us a good sense of your natural strengths and weaknesses and will help provide a basis for comparison as you continue to study. A FULL CAT takes about 3.5 hours to complete, so make sure that you've set aside enough time to take it in one sitting. Once you have those scores, you should report back here and we can come up with a study plan.
