Hi guys,

I am a non-native Speaker from Germany. At the moment, I study for the GMAT very hard every day. Yesterday, I took the first diagnostic test. To be honest, I was very disappointed about the score. In the end, I was able to hit a 440 but I expected at least a score of 500.
From today, I am preparing for the GMAT since 8 weeks. At first, I started with some practising in the Official Guide 2020 and continued with the Manhattan Prep Books. After finishing all the theoretical basics, I continued with the tasks in the Official Guide 2020.

Overall, do you have any tips how I can improve my score from 440 to 500? I need a minimum score of 500 for an MBA program on the University of Central Arkansas. My plan is to take the real test in 2-3 weeks?

Let me add some infos about the Diagnostic tests:
Quantative - score: 32 (22 percentile)
Verbal - score: 20 (23 percentile)

Hi Edeler,

Since you only need another 50 points or so, have you considered looking at additional resources?

Hi Edeler,

With a 440, you are closer to a 500+ than you probably realize. In addition, to hit that type of Score on the Official GMAT, you do NOT need to correctly answer ANY questions that you think are too hard or too weird, but you do have keep the little mistakes to a minimum on everything else. Based on your one practice CAT/mock Score, you have the opportunity to pick up significant points in BOTH the Quant and Verbal sections - and you really only have to pick up a few points overall to hit your Score Goal!

You probably should not 'rush in' to take your Official GMAT until you have a few additional practice CAT Scores though. With just one Score, we don't know how accurate this one assessment is (you may have gotten a bit lucky or unlucky on this Test, meaning that your actual 'ability level' is higher or lower than this 440 implies). Since the process of taking (and reviewing) a CAT requires a significant amount of energy and effort - and takes time to 'recover' from, you should not take more than 1 FULL CAT per week and your last CAT should be taken about 1 week before you take your Official GMAT.

I suggest that you study as you choose for the next week, then take a new CAT. Once you have that Score, you should post back here and we can discuss the results.

1) What specific application deadlines are you facing?
2) Going forward, how many hours do you think you can consistently study each week?
