Hi antoniojmcmillan,

Studying for the GMAT can be a big overall task - so if you sometimes feel a bit overwhelmed at the thought of that task, then you are not alone. Thankfully, the GMAT is a consistent, predictable Exam, so you CAN train to score at a higher level - AND you can break that overall GMAT training plan down into lots of small 'pieces' that are relatively easy to deal with. Depending on your Score Goal (and natural skills in the Quant and Verbal sections), you might need more or less time to hone the necessary skills, but you have to commit to a consistent study routine to achieve your Goals.

Before I can offer you any additional advice for your studies, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

Studies:
1) How long have you studied?
2) What study materials have you used so far? What “brands” of CATs/mocks have you used?
3) Have you taken any practice CATs/mocks yet? On what dates (or approximate dates) did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?

Goals:
4) What is your overall goal score?
5) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?

Hi,

How do you manage to get out of a rut? I've been pretty inconsistent regarding my study plan. I stopped studying about 2 months ago, and I have not been able to get back on track. I know I must study and I have enough time to do so. However, I'm lacking the motivation.

I'm dealing with some stuff right now that might have thrown me out of track. For instance, I'm not enjoying my job anymore and I want to move to a higher paying position in another company in order to guarantee my financial stability. Has this happened to you?

Anyways, I'll really appreciate your advice.

PS: For anyone wondering, I'm subscribed to Target Test Prep, and I have not been able to continue their course.

Hi AE11,

I've mentored a number of students, helping them break the GMAT 700+ barrier. And I have noticed that while every student's journey is unique, what you are facing is a part of many student's journey. It's okay to feel that way for a while but you need to get yourself back on track now without wasting any more time. Moreover, since your GMAT score has the ability to push you towards higher financial stability in future, you should get the motivation right there.

A customised study plan with clear deadlines and a structured preparation strategy may help you prepare in a disciplined manner. Moreover, if you feel you get distracted now and then, and need a mentor to keep you right on track till the end, I suggest you to go with private tutoring.

Private tutoring is the best option if you feel you need a personal mentor to guide you through your preparation. Your performance will be constantly monitored by the mentor and based on the feedback you can prepare accordingly. This mostly works when students face difficulty in understanding concepts or lacks motivation and requires a one-on-one interaction with tutors with personalised learning .

If you are open to suggestions, I would recommend you to check the private tutoring course offered by GMATWhiz. It offers a tailor made learning experience with highly experienced teachers at an affordable price and help you indulge in flawlessly personalised learning process. Our tutors have a minimum of 10 years teaching experience and we offer a hybrid learning experience where we combine the best of online learning (technology) with private tutoring. Also, the round-the-clock availability feature allows you to book the slot of your choice not having to worry about our availability on your convenient time. We use an AI based learning platform to do 3 things:

1. Get you a personalized trackable study plan that adapts in real time
2. Track your performance on the portal against 20+ data points for each question.
3. Help you learn the basic concepts through video lessons, thereby saving the number of private tutoring hours you need. (These video lessons are created by the same experts who teach you)

The tutor uses these data points before each session to identify the gaps in your learning and create relevant content for discussion. Hence each session is 5 times more effective than those offered by other private tutors as you get pin-point advice on exact reasons behind your mistakes. As a result, you get the maximum output with minimum number of sessions.

You can check out the demo by GMATWhiz and decide for yourself if it is the one you are looking for.
