How to Improve/ Private Tutor

Question

Hello All,

I took my GMAT 2 days ago after ~4 months of studying and scored 610. (Q41 V34).

Like most of you I work full time and have been studying 2-3 hours/day during the week and 7+ hours on Saturday and Sunday.
I have tried two online courses, but something is not clicking. I am thinking about hiring a private tutor to help me improve my weak areas, but I am not sure where to start.

If anyone has experience improving from a 610 to a 690+, please let me know your process. Also, if you used a private tutor how did you find one that clicked with your learning style? How do you make the most of your tutoring sessions?

For reference, I would like to retake the test in 1.5-2 months.

If you have specific "humps" you'd like a tutor to address, it can be helpful to list them down so you can easily share them. I've even told students to send (before a tutoring session) questions from their self-study they want to go over.

A score of 610 is decent and a target score of 690+ seems realistic.

A couple of things that can be a noticeable barrier to your scores would be some or all of the below.

• Inefficiency by using time-consuming Conventional method to tackle DS and PS questions still
• No expert support (maybe) who can tutor, analyze, and guide you during your learning especially on hard-level questions while stably hitting middle-level questions.
• Lack of many updated questions and practice in the recent exam trend
• Not well aligned with time to solve questions.

We would recommend you make a note of various possible combinations of your target score. The possible scores will help you track your performance after taking the mock or practice test. It will also help you maintain balance in both the sections, and you will always be in a great position to allot the study hours to a specific area accordingly.

I'm sorry to hear that Test Day did not turn out better. Before we discuss any of those potential issues though, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

Studies:
1) What study materials have you used so far? What “brands” of CATs/mocks have you used? 
2) On what dates (or approximate dates) did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?

Goals:
3) Is your overall goal score 690 or something else?
4) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?

If you took your Official GMAT at a Test Center, then you might also choose to purchase the Enhanced Score Report. While the ESR doesn’t provide a lot of information, there are usually a few data points that we can use to define what went wrong on Test Day (and what you should work on to score higher). If you purchase the ESR, then I'll be happy to analyze it for you.
