in order to increase my score to >730 (currently 710, Q50/V36/IR6/AWA6)

Working on the Verbal (i.e. aiming for a V40+) may be the way to go. Consider working on your solving approach. All the best.

Hi,

I am planning to retake my GMAT in order to increase my score to >730 (currently 710, Q50/V36/IR6/AWA6). I plan to retake it before Jan 4th/5th. I am currently working in China as a French citizen. I plan to go back to France for the Christmas holidays.

Here are my questions:

1. Do you know whether I can sit for an online GMAT in France? It seems that the test centers are closed in France and the only option is online. So, even if I originally created my GMAT account in China with a registered home address in China, can I take the online exam from France? (I should write to GMAC directly... but my initial thought was to ask here)

2. Can you confirm that I could sit for both tests at a test center in China (before flying to France - mid December) and online in France (end December) ? If I read properly, we can sit twice for the online exams and it would not count for our physical exams. So, apart from the financial aspect, it would be worth trying online no matter what (I have never sat for the online exams as in China, the online option is not available).

3. What would you do if you were in my shoes? (physical, online, both)

4. Any particular advice for the retake strategy?

Thank you!

1. I would be possible. your living address shouldn't matter in GMAT. Specially your Passport, which you have used in previous exam as your ID, is the same.
2. Yes. even you can give them back to back. Even though both types have different limits, all tests are counted towards your life time limit.
3. Given that first test reflects true ability; I wouldn't worry. To improve 30 points usually 2 month is enough. I would study and give the exam in china. After I get the score in China, I would come back to France for charisma in a free mined.
4. since you received Q50, you need to work on verbal more. Because verbal has more room for improvement.

Hi,

Thank you all for your answers!

I will take the GMAT in a test center in China and then do it online in France.

The answer I got from GMAC / mba[dot]com is:
"Depending on where you are testing, you may be required to present your passport book as a form of identification. Your region may require it or if you are testing outside of your country of citizenship, you must provide a current passport. (Currently, passports that have expired, after January 1, 2020, will be accepted)"

So I guess, it's right - just need my passport as a proof of evidence.

I will definitely focus on the verbal side to improve my verbal score and keep my quant score to 49/50. With this, I should be able to reach >730 (hopefully!!!).

Thanks!
