GMAT Test Center or Online?

Question

I had a terrible test center experience where the proctor ate up a significant chunk of time in verbal. As such, I’m leaning to retake GMAT online in the comfort of my own home. Unfortunately, I’m trying to make round 1 deadlines and my timing is tight. If I take GMAT online before the deadlines, will it still count if it takes a while to process or goes into review? Or should I err on the side of caution and take it in the test center again?

If you are targeting Indian B Schools, be cognizant that IIMs don't accept online GMAT Score.. I also had a terrible Test Centre Experience.. my online experience at home was comfortable apart from login issue in the beginning but onus remains on you for any mishappenings such as power cut, internet cut, login issue etc.. take decision wisely

Hi helpmestudy,

You should be fine as long as your test date is before your deadline(s) and your test does not get cancelled (technical or security issues).

Also, if you lost time because of the proctor, you may be able to get a free retake/refund. Reach out to Pearson customer service, explain the situation, and file a complaint.

If you decide to take it Online, consider keeping a spare marker next to your eraser in case your primary one runs out.

You will be fine even if your test goes into the review.

For an application, you need to know your score and for some schools need to have a screenshot of your score. You should be able to do it the day you take the test.

If your test goes into the administrative review, which is somewhat common these days, your score will disappear during that time but it doesn’t matter for the application process because you can send your score after the deadline. The requirement is that your test must be taken before the deadline. It’s OK for the score report to take a few weeks to arrive to the admissions committee.
