Hi, thanks for your reply.

I am an engineer by profession, 5 yr work-ex, looking for colleges in India primarily and regarding post MBA goals - i really don't have much information about this. I am in PSU right now, so want to switch to Private sector. Target GMAT score- 720+. Will you please suggest few good B-schools?

Thanks.

Hi all,
During GMAT, names of five B-schools are asked to which score report will be sent by GMAC. I am an Indian student, targeting ISB mainly. Kindly suggest few good B-schools, names of which i can opt for my score report to be sent.

Thanks.

walterwhite756 - it would be hard to suggest here without having more details into your background, preferences (for geographies etc.), post MBA goals (target roles). These factors play a role while prioritizing schools, apart from your GMAT score of course

walterwhite756 - thanks for the update. Unfortunately, without clarity on your goals post MBA, it would be hard to recommend the right schools.

Broadly though, if you are keen on India and end up with a 720+, being from PSU and wanting to transition to private sector, ISB and PGPEx at IIMs (A/ B/ C/ I/ L) can be interesting options. Please note though that for some of the IIM PGPEx programs, you would likely be at the younger side of the class: their averages are around 8-10 years work-ex, although they do admit candidates with 5 years.

Hope this helps a bit.

Here's my suggested list for someone with 5 years of PSU experience, based on my insights from working with successful applicants who were admitted to these schools (all views are mine):

1.ISB: With its larger class size of about 850, ISB aligns well with your age and experience profile, making it a strong choice.

2. IIM A PGPX: While the class size is selective with around 100 seats, meeting the eligibility criteria of 4 years of work experience, a high GMAT score, and a compelling application could secure your spot in this prestigious program.

3. IIM B PGPX: Despite its smaller class size, the cohesive experience of IIM B's PGP is highly regarded. Highly positive feedback from my admitted candidates regarding the experience.

4. IIM C MBAEx: I have noticed a slight inclination toward the IT and tech industry, though it still aims for diversity. If your background lies in a technology-related domain within a PSU and your aspirations revolve around tech or tech consulting, you have a promising chance here.

5. IIM L PGP: Another excellent choice that aligns well with your profile.

6. XLRI PGDM GM: XLRI places significant emphasis on the quality of work experience, often more so than GMAT scores. Some candidates who faced challenges with GMAT performance have successfully secured admission through a strong application and impressive interview performance.

Feel free to speak should you want professional advice on cracking applications and interviews.

Hey Walterwhite!

Good to see you. I was in a similar boat many years ago but I was not quite as smart.

Think about what country you may want to go for (I recommend US more than EU and Canada). And perhaps go for Darden, UNC, Kelley, and maybe Foster if you are into tech. If you get a high score they can offer you an admission and even some $$$ and if not, you can always cancel. These would be my picks / ideas.

PS. Keep in mind you will get spammed by these (and other schools) if you get a high enough score. 🥴
