Hi. The answers that you can take the test and you can send it in.
About them considering it. That is a maybe…. There are deadlines and they are there for a reason. What if you wrote a better essay, could you send it in? (No, you can’t since that would mean endless revisions and updates of essays pouring in after the deadline)
There’s no guarantee that the score will be used but there is a decent chance it will have some kind of an impact on your application so if you think you can improve your score in such a manner, I would definitely take it again.
This will also be helpful to you even if you get rejected and evaluated only based on the old score. Having that score in your back pocket would mean you don’t have to retake next summer or spring or fall and can apply with the score instead rather than studying again and gearing up for it.

Hi Everyone,
Kind of an urgent query, I had given the gmat a month ago and got a 690 (Q50, V31), at that time it felt like I need to apply with this score as I was completely burned out, but have since been motivated to give it one last try. I have applied to a few schools with deadlines in early jan and wanted to strengthen my application. I just gave an official mock and got a 730 equivalent in the focus edition. I believe I can get this score as Sentence correction is what got my score down and also had got an IR of 7 so I believe I can put in 1 good week of studying before I give the exam.
The question here is can I send updated gmat score to the school and ask them to consider it? Kindly please let me know as it has been close to 8 days since I submitted my application and am thinking to give it in a weeks time.
