Generally speaking does any one here know what are the key differences between the CAT in India versus the GMAT. I wrote the CAT in 2013 with 97.8 percentile, Quant (90 %ile) and Verbal (99%ile) so wondering if I can bring my old self back to ace the GMAT, just started prepping 3 weeks ago.

I wrote CAT couple of years back and have been preparing for GMAT, so i think i can come up with a few pointers:
QA: Although both GMAT & CAT QAs are mostly arithmetic & algebra based now, compared to the current CAT QA standards, GMAT QAs is easier.
RC: Almost on par. Yes, CAT RCs are lengthy and a bit more dense, i believe. Couple of CAT RCs are real trauma, but a great practice for GMAT.
CR: A significant part of GMAT Verbal. I think, CAT tests CR skills through RC questions, not much though.
DI:DI questions in GMAT are nowhere close to CAT DI questions.
Unlike GMAT DI ques, CAT DI ques are much varied with no specific pattern, basically you can't expect anything in there.
DI in GMAT are either non-verbal based or verbal based.
In non-verbal based questions, you will have quant or graph based questions.
Graph based questions are relatively easy, but bit tiring in terms of calculations. You will have to sift through tons of garbage info.
Verbal questions test your RC/CR skills, bit challenging than non-verbal based.

Yes my recollection was that RC was so heavy with CAT I have not encountered very heavy passages on the GMAT yet. CAT was next level hahaha.
For the quant too I thought CAT was much more difficult.
DI I remember was not very straightforward.
