Is 685 a good enough score based on GMAT Prep Mocks 03 May 2024, 21:13

Hi All,

I have got the below scores in my GMAT Prep mock exams and I gave gmat yesterday and got 685. As in my last week of tests I was scoring 700 above I was expecting a minimum score of 705. Should I reattempt the GMAT score after getting 685??

PS- I am aiming for indian B School ( ISB, IIMK, IIMA) and have a decent profile.

685 is a strong score that may be sufficient for getting you into your first choice school. At the same time, if you think a higher score will help your application at all, I think you should retake since it appears that you will likely score higher, particularly if you get some insights from your score report that indicate things you could work on to lock in a 700+ score next time you take the test.

­Hi! 685 is a pretty good score for Indian B-schools and you don't really need to retake GMAT. Having said that, can you please share your acads and profile? Also, in test 7,8,9,10 were there questions that you kinda remembered already (even if that number was small)?

­Kratiks10 There is no simple answer to whether 685 is a good score for your profile. If you need an honest feedback, you should share more context surrounding your profile and professional growth trajectory. Please note that schools like ISB and IIMA do give a lot of weightage to the academic history and GRE/GMAT  (more than 35%). If the rest of your profile doesnt have anything exceptional, it becomes a strong reason to further increase your GMAT score on the focus edition. The schools have no dearth of interest from exceptional candidates, so ultimately if it only comes down to stats and the admissions committee has to decide between two similarly positioned candidates, your GMAT score will become a deciding factor. So to understand where you stand, get a feedback on the rest of your profile and story.

Hi Kratiks10,

First, I think 685 is a fantastic GMAT score, so great work! Second, based on your practice test scores, you really have nothing to lose by giving the GMAT one more shot. Regardless of how it goes, you still have a score of 685 in your back pocket.
