Thank You BB! More Questions
1. What is GMAT Focus ? Is it same as GMAT 2024? or are there two flavours of test ?
2. From your reply on study plan, you stated optimized for focus, and not optimized , again do the term focus is the GMAT focus variety?

Thanks!

Sorry about the confusion. The new format that was introduced in November 2023 is called GMAT focus. The old format was discontinued Feb , 2024.

The only available test format today is the GMAT focus which consists of three sections, 45 minutes each which is a lot shorter than what you would’ve taken years ago.

When the first introduced in 2023 the new format of the GMAT was called GMAT focus. This name was introduced to created distinction between the old format which was called simply GMAT, now referred to as GMAT classic by me at least, and the new version of the test. So the new version of the test was called GMAT focus until June of this year when there was no longer two versions of the test available and so GMAC proceeded to drop the distinction of focus in June 2024 and simply calls it the GMAT now.

there’s still obviously a lot of confusion and I continue to call the new format of the GMAT, by its original name of GMAT Focus. This helps to distinguish and ensure that people understand which version of the test I’m talking about.

The name GMAT 2024 does not really exist as in product name so to speak. However since the test has changed itself last year, I think everyone understands what you mean.

Anyway, it’s very long explanation for a very simple concept. 😂

Hi pradeep43,

Although I cannot give you an exact day-to-day study plan, I have some general advice on how to proceed with your prep.

Regarding improving your GMAT skills, my biggest piece of advice is to ensure you are studying topically. In other words, be sure to focus on just ONE quant or verbal topic at a time and practice just that topic until you achieve mastery. If you can study that way, you will start seeing incremental improvement.

For example, let's say you are studying Number Properties. First, you'll need to learn all you can about that topic, and then practice only Number Property questions. After each problem set, thoroughly analyze your incorrect questions. For example, ask yourself why if you got a remainder question wrong. Did you make a careless mistake? Did you not properly apply the remainder formula? Was there a concept you did not understand in the question?

By carefully analyzing your mistakes, you will be able to fix your weaknesses efficiently and, in turn, improve your GMAT quant skills. Number Properties is just one example; follow this process for all quant verbal, and DI topics.

For some more tips on the best way to structure your studying, here is a great article:
