Dear Fellow GMATers,
I've taken the GMAT once, scoring 645 (Q85, V81, DI79), and now I'm aiming for 715 with sectional targets being Q90, V85, and DI82.
I need help/ suggestions with focused study plan for 2 months to achieve this target.
Quant: Mock score range: 81 to 87 (1 to 7 errors, avg 4)
In both debriefs and my own mock test experiences, I’ve noticed that even a single mistake can drop my Quant score to around 82-84.
To hit my target score, I’ll need to aim for getting all the questions right. Quant is my strength, and I believe it’s achievable.
I’ve identified some specific weak areas:
- Topics with most errors – Must be/Could be True questions, Probability, Permutation & Combination, and Set Theory
- I tend to make occasional errors by missing small details in longer, wordy questions.
Verbal: Mock score range: 80 to 86 (5 to 10 errors, avg 7)I’m not entirely sure what my exact weaknesses are in Verbal, as I make a nearly equal number of mistakes across different question types in both Critical Reasoning (CR) and Reading Comprehension (RC).
Most of my incorrect answers tend to be in medium or hard questions. During my GMAT, I had 6 errors—3 of them were in a particularly long and complex RC passage, while the other 3 were in CR.
To score an 85, I need to keep my errors to 3-4, based on my mock tests and the debriefs I’ve reviewed.
Data Insights: Mock score range: 73 to 81 (5 to 13 errors, avg 8)- From my mock tests and GMAT experience, DS and Tables are areas where I tend to make more mistakes.
- I also struggle with timing, especially on Graphs, Tables, and DS questions
- For TPA, I often make errors in non-math questions and sometimes get stuck on tricky math ones.
- In my GMAT, I had 6 errors: 3 in a non-math MSR question (I had guessed it), with the rest scattered across TPA and DS.
Although I’ve improved in this section, I need more consistency and reduce my errors to 5-6.
Regarding section order, my preference is QA-DI-VA.
What would be an ideal strategy considering the algorithm's sectional adaptability, with my strengths in Quant and weaknesses in DI?
I had tried starting with DI, but that didn't work out. Considering possibilities of cold start of brain, prefering to start with Quant only.
Resources I plan to use:- Quant: OG 2024-25 and GMAT Club Tests
- Verbal: OG 2024-25 and GMAT Ninja Videos
- Data Insights: OG 2024-25 and GMAT Club Tests
- Mocks: OG 5 & 6 (2 each, so 4 total)
Frankly, I have experience with test prep products, they work for many but didnt work for me.
So looking for self study options only with OG, Youtube videos and GMAT Club.
Thanks,
