Hey, @Abhikvisha

Your profile for IIM Ahmedabad PGPX program is quite strong, combining academic excellence, professional experience and leadership traits. Graduating with a B.Tech and achieving a CGPA of 8.2 together with XII (94%) establishes a sound academic platform. Five years in the leading mining and manufacturing firm, your present middle management position as well as being named the top performer for two consecutive years indicates your ability to perform effectively in competitive environments. Your operations expertise, certification, and enterprise risk management further strengthen your profile’s relevance to business studies.

In addition, your captaincy shows teamwork and managerial skills while an amazing fitness journey coupled with varied interests like singing and swimming unveils you as an all-rounder person throughout.

To make your application stronger, you should aim at scoring at least 675 in GMAT FE because it will increase your competitiveness. Also consider giving specific examples where you have demonstrated leadership and discuss their outcomes. Lastly, you need to make sure that your personal statement clearly communicates your career goals and what drives you to pursue MBA specifically. These improvements will enable you to submit a very strong application. Best wishes! :D

I understand "The higher - The better" concept, but isn't 675 (~ Classic 720) a bit too high for a "minimum", atleast for getting a call for the Interview ? In their recent webinars, they have been stressing to try to keep the score near the last year's average (642 FE, 697 Classic) while atleast having an equivalent to Classic 660 (roughly translates to a 615 FE, or 75+ overall percentile). Rest is upto previous academic and non-academic performances as well as diversity in work, gender, education and so on.

In general, actually higher score means stronger profile, but you are right, it is useful to take into account other variables you have mentioned. However, it can also be seen that getting a high GMAT score is always helpful and can bring numerous benefits if applied together with the other factors contributing to the chances of success in the program.

Definitely. At this point, GMAT Score is the only variable which one can change. Experience, Academics and other things usually cannot change in a month or two.

My apprehension was with someone telling 675 as a "minimum" score. This would certainly demotivate someone scoring a 615, 625...655 in mocks and lead them into thinking their score is not "good enough". One has to be reasonable here. Also, there are alumni with below-650 scores and there are people rejected even at a 760. Not even a 805 would guarantee admission.

isn’t GMAT FE 645 equivalent to GMAT classic 700? isn’t 645 GMAT FE good score to apply to IIM A PGPX with this profile?

The average GMAT score for the existing IIM A cohort is 697 (consider it to be 700 in the old GMAT format). Hence, with the FE GMAT, you can aim for 645 and still be good to apply.

My personal opinion is 615 and above is worth applying and anything below calls for a retake. Reason - During the classic only times, it was said that 660 and above wouldn’t get you rejected purely on the basis of your GMAT Score. That 660 converts to a 615. [All this is my personal opinion based on forum posts, alumni interaction, IIM A Webinars etc. and nothing is official]

If you look at the portal, they have defined the timelines. If I am not wrong it’s usually after a week or so since the last date of application round.

No such thing as a "safe score". Trying getting as close as you can to last year’s average = 645 approx.

What are your short term and long term goals post MBA? A lot will also depend on your overall application other than GMAT score. Try for a 655+ atleast. Feel free to reach out to Preppie (https://www.preppie.in/) for a free profile evaluation and detailed discussion
