Hi KarishmaB

I have 4 days including today before my exam. I am thinking of taking another mock today and one more day after (2 days before the actual exam). I will do what you suggested, ensure all my answers are marked and go in with the expectation that this is harder and have to move quick, thank you for your advice :) I'm hoping my score does return to its average one

I analyzed my practice test 3 and compared the difficulty level (by checking the level from gmatclub) with practice test 2 and found that both in Quant and verbal (especially verbal) the number of hard questions I got this time were more. For eg in quants test 2( I got a score of 90 earlier and had 3 hard qns, 9 medium ) - this test #3 gave me 6 hard qns and fewer easy ones. I think this stumped me.
Also in verbal, practice Test 3 I had 5 hard qns (95% hard difficulty , 705-805 and 805+) level qns and 5 mid-hard qns (75% hard difficulty on gmatclub). This is significantly more than what I had in previous attempts (tests 1,2). 3 out of my 4 RCs were rated hard. This, i think, made me spend a lot of time on these RCS and lose time at the end. This is really terrifying to me now, should I expect these many hard questions on the actual GMAT exam?

My GMAT exam is in a few days. I took a mock test today and did terrible. I got a 655.
For context, my previous scores :
Practice test 1: 645
Practice test 2: 715 (taken 7 days ago)
Practice test 2, reattempt : 695 (taken 3 days ago)
Practice test 3: 645 (taken today)

Practice test 3 seemed a lot harder for me in Quant and verbal, I don't know why. The questions seemed harder and I spent too much time on RC passages. In fact I ended up randomly marking the answers to the last 4 questions in verbal because I had no time, and my last ans did not get saved.
I am usually good with RCs but don't know how I've performed so badly.

bb @martyMurray GMATNinja KarishmaB or any mentor/expert out there, is there anything I can do to improve? I'm hoping this is just some bad luck or poor concentration /one time thing.
I'm a few days away from my actual exam and I'm really worried after this mock test.

Any motivation, tips on improving RC Are welcome

Your last answer not getting recorded accounts for a big part of the dip.
Many people do find tests 3 - 5 harder than others. If you have more than 5 days remaining, take another full length test with the expectation that it will feel harder. You will be mentally prepared this time and ensure that every answer gets recorded. You are likely to go back to your average mock score.

Take a mock today if you wish to but I strongly recommend none after today. Give your mind time to refresh and relax.
And yes, expect that GMAT could throw anything at you. Your job is to not get frustrated and handle everything to the best of your ability. Penalty for getting hard questions wrong is lower so don't worry even if you get very hard questions. Give them a reasonable attempt and move on. Your time management skills are getting tested too.

Yes that makes sense. I'll try not to worry about the harder questions and maintain my cool. Thank you Karishma :)

Hi KarishmaB
I have practice test 4 left, would it be better to take the practice test 3 reattempt or test 4 first attempt as my final mock? Or am I overthinking this and it doesn't matter haha
I understand that 3, 4 both take questions from the same pool, but is 4 harder than 3 or something like that?

As you said, it doesn't matter. One is not harder than the other. But a repeat of 3 may have repeat questions so take 4.

Other than your aptitude and skill, GMAT is testing your time management and mental resilience - keep that in mind.

Hi ScottTargetTestPrep , KarishmaB,

I ended up taking another mock that day it got the same score, 655.
I improved quants, but still made so many errors in verbal and data insights.
That previous attempt where I got 655, my DI score was around 84, now it dropped to 79. Im so worried by these inconsistencies.

I am considering postponing my exam to a few more days but not sure if I'm overthinking
My exam is on 4th. I want to take a mock now (2nd oct) but is it advisable?
I feel really anxious about going to the test center with my last official mock score being 655.
