Yes, the OG11, along with supplemental materials and the free GMATprep software is absolutely enough to score well above 700. It all depends on how you absorb the material.

I'd recommend avoiding Kaplan. They will do more harm than good. Never looked at PR.

I can't agree more. I ran out of materials and started using Kaplan. Worst mistake ever. My CR ability has gone down a bit. SC still the same. No help with math.

Explanations for all Kaplan questions are just awful. If uve worked intesnley as I have through the OG, ul realize that somethin is just a little off with Kaplan.

I have glanced at some PR stuff. Math seems too easy.

anyway, OG will def get u there.

GMAT?
Hi all,

GMAT in 6 weeks.

Is it sufficient to go through OG 11 and OG verbal and maths books, and OG 10 to get 700 plus.

I have got the Kaplan and Princeton books, but do not want to waste time if going through OG10 and OG11 plus OG maths and verbal books in detail will be enough. Why bother with the Kaplan and PR books given that OG has enough questions and will be most representative of the actual exam.

I am resitting the GMAT. Scored 620 the first time round.

Plan is to do the 2 GMATPrep test plus the 4 PR ones and 4 Kaplan ones.

Thank

Any advise really apprecited.

I disagree somewhat with the posters above. It's certainly true that the OG books contain questions that run the gamut up to the most difficult. The problem is, there aren't very many very difficult questions--the vast majority are of moderate difficulty. (That's where the majority of test-takers are as well.) So if you're shooting for a score in the mid-600's, it's great. Above that, you'll need to work more on problems that mimic the hardest type.

This forum is one place where you'll see some challenging questions, so keep an eye out. Also, look at some of the specialized prep books. (I agree that Kaplan is not great in this area.) Manhattan Review's books offer lots of problems pitched at a high difficulty level:

Well...I only used the OG11 and the OG math supplement and got 780. I didn't encounter anything on the real thing that I didn't see in the OG and/or GMATprep. I looked at Kaplan long enough to recognize it as junk.

So, going back to the original question, yes the OG and supplements are enough to get 700+.

you are 100% correct. there is a tangible difference between OG and kaplan. much less so with princeton review.

What do you suggest for someone who took the Kaplan course, only used the Kaplan stuff for the duration of the class and is now planning to take the GMAT in about 2 months from now in hopes to get 700+? Ditch all Kaplan questions/explanations altogether? I have been scoring high 500's so far (ugh).
