All right, I bit the bullet and ordered both.

I noticed that the SC book is pretty damn long. Time will be tough.

I am not familiar with the kaplan course materials (by the way, if you have shared your thoughts about the course - shoot me a link - I will add it to the master thread), so can't say how similar/different they are. My guess is that pretty similar, but may have some minor bonuses (better way to remember things, better structure, etc). Will be worth the $30-40 you're spending on them but it won't be groundbreaking - don't expect that.

The MGMAT SC book is SIGNIFICANTLY beefed up from the previous ed (3rd ed vs 4th ed). Much more content, longer list of idioms, etc.

We have a thread going on the very topic:

Thanks guys for your help.

BTW, my opinion on the reading comp book isn't very valuable because unlike the other books I haven't finished it yet.

GmatNY86,

I have both SC and RC+CR books from MGMAT.
I like both. My 02 cents:
First book:
- SC is one of the best I found in verbal

Second book:
- CR part is good when you are starting, to separate the assumptions from the conclusions, etc. In that book, the way in which CR is explained, makes think you have enough time to separate everything very carefully, think, think ... NO, YOU HAVE NOT: just realize what is critical, predict the answer and find it.
- RC part: it divides in two sub-parts. Short and long passages. Has two different strategies. I consider them as good strategies, although I found Kaplan's strategy the best for me.

(PS.: If someone disagrees with me, please let me know)

good luck with your test. Post your scores when you finish :)

Thanks for the math review, GmatNY86! Right now, I'm comparing the Manhattan math series to Jeff Sackmann's Total GMAT Math to see which one would be the better purchase.
