I actually never worked with the OG.
The best approach seems to be what MGMAT suggests - take questions in terms of topics covered. If you don't have MGMAT books, you can see this topical guide to the OG: gmat-club-guide-to-the-gmat-official-guide-12th-ed-85956.html

I did not know of/have the book when I studying for the GMAT - that was one reason I started GMAT Club, so that others would not make the same mistakes. I have a few copies now
