my gpa is around a 3.2. lets say I score a 750 on the GMAT. I know thats a bit high but I feel it is very attainable. The problem that I have, other than my low GPA, is that I will have almost no work experience when I apply to B School. I have been hearing that without any work experience it is virtually impossible to get into a top business program. I have also been reading that the experience you have while you attend school will not count towards your resume. If I started a business and it were to be fairly successful by the time I graduate college, will it mean anything towards my admission? will the school then count my experience as actual experience?
Do you plan to apply as an entrepreneur? Is your business going to be your full-time career after graduation? In the case of MBA applications your summer internships and PT work (even if for the company you plan to work for after graduation) do not count toward full-time work experience. I don't know if this is different for entrepreneurs.
Over on Poets & Quants hbsguru, Sandy Kreisberg, does a series handicapping people's odds of getting into top schools. Maybe you could post in that forum and ask his advice about your chances. You will see the format for requesting feedback in the thread. Hope this helps!
