Hi,

I'm applying for R1 but expect to be traveling when interview notices typically come out (beginning to middle of November). Are interview notices typically sent to the email address I submit my application with or only by physical mail?

What about acceptance/rejection decisions?

Everything is done by email for Columbia. Are you applying ED or Regular? If you are applying regular decision then you won't start getting reviewed until Dec anyways. If you are applying ED then it will depend on when you submit. I already received an interview invite for ED so they are already going out if you submitted early. Either way they "highly recommend" that you contact your interviewer within 2 weeks and conduct the interview within 4 weeks of the notification. So it's not like you have to interview the same week you get the invitation. I'm in the same boat in terms of traveling. I got the invite yesterday but I'm in the arctic circle for a while so obviously my interview is going to have to wait a bit. The admissions committee understands that people have busy schedules when applying to school.

What about other schools? Booth/sloan/h/w/s, are they all through email also? Thanks for your help!

All interview invites are sent via email for these schools. You can also check your app status to see if you've received an invite. Admission notification is via email notification to check your app status online, but some schools do call prior to the status update (Booth, Wharton).

Side question for either/both of you. Do you know if Booth requires me to submit my official GMAT before my acceptance? The website's FAQ says they'll request after acceptance but my application status says "missing official GMAT report".

HBS and MIT was definitely needed (before acceptance), Wharton was definitely not. Columbia and Booth were not super clear but both implied not needed until acceptance. Just checking, thanks!
