Hi everyone,

I have some doubts regarding the resume. I am afraid that if I get caught sending the same resume to different prospective schools, the adcom will consider this act " cheating." So, I hope you guys can shed some light whether it is appropriate to send the identical resume to different schools :P .

Hi everyone,

What's wrong with sending your resume to several schools? Adcoms know that you are applying to several schools, so why should they bother about this?

I don't think sending the same resume can be cheating. Resume is a summary of yourself. Sure, you can change which area of yourself to highlight based on school, but it has to be potentially same. Because yourself is one individual.

In fact, if one person's resumes vary too much, other than format, it would raise a flag, because it sounds like some of (if not all) the contents are made up to look good.

If the other posters' comments have allayed your fears, just remember you do the same exact thing when you're looking for a job. A little tweaking to a resume is a PLUS, not a requirement. We have our clients tailor their resumes to each school but that entails minor edits to word choice and tone. It's definitely not cheating to use one resume!
