1. Discuss your post-MBA career aspirations and explain how you plan to achieve them. (300 words)

2. For question 2(a) and 2(b), you only need to answer one of the two questions. 
 a. CEIBS is situated in Shanghai - a truly global city, and the economic center of the world’s fastest growing economy. Given its unique location, how do you anticipate that Shanghai will differentiate your MBA experience and contribute to your goals? (400 words)
 b. Discuss a situation where you have demonstrated significant leadership ability. (400 words)

3. For question 3(a) and 3(b), you only need to answer one of the two questions. 
 a. Many would argue that entrepreneurship is not necessarily a state of being, but a state of mind. Describe an entrepreneurial experience where you went against the grain or conventional way of thinking`, to discover and create new value. (400 words)
 b. Identify up to 3 trends, big or small, that you see unfolding in the next decade. Discuss how the (se) trend(s) will affect you and how you plan to deal with them both on campus and in the future. (400 words)

4. (Optional) Is there any other information that you believe would be helpful to the MBA Admission Committee in evaluating your application? (200 words).

Hello, I'm a student of CEIBS, class of 2015. 
When I had the interview, there were two interviewers and spent around 30 minutes. 
They were interested in how deep I understand about my industry, so they asked currently related topics. ( I guess those things can be tested only through interviews.)
And Why China, Why CEIBS, and my future plan. 
In addition, I heard that some students who had short work experiences were asked about some leadership related questions.

Will the admissions committee send out the invites in waves on certain days or will they send out a set amount each day? Do you happen to know the absolute last day they'll be sending out invites?

Hello! The admission team sends out invitation, after the team has reviewed a certain amount of applications. So not on a daily basis but very likely to send out every 1-2 days. Generally the last day should be Dec. 6-7, but there might be some special cases that the team may send out 2-3 days after that. Hope you this can be helpful. :-D

Hello everybody

Just wondering why the deadlines stated at the official website have been changed.

Initially the deadline for the R2 was 24 January, however now it is 19 February?

What might have caused such changes?

P.S. I think it would be better to amend the deadlines in th first post.

Hello, Jmurik5,

R2 deadline of January 24 2013 was for MBA 2013 Intake. For MBA 2014 intake, the school will start August, one month later than for MBA 2013 Intake, so deadlines for R2 and R3 are delayed.

For more accurate information, R2 deadline for MBA 2013 will be Feb. 19, 2014. 
And if you want to know more about CEIBS, please contact student ambassadors in CEIBS homepage.

Well, I had an in-person interview a couple weeks ago and I got grilled. I was expecting just the standard, "Why MBA?", "Why CEIBS?", but instead I got asked one industry related question, how was I going to finance this degree in case I didn't get any scholarships, etc. Hopefully all of us applicants will hear back by the end of next week.

For those interested in CEIBS. They are offering $30K scholarship to 2 people. It seems like just an extra step to get a scholarship, but only those who know and apply will get it. So I guess that will weed out some admitted folks.

I am a new joinee on this forum.
I had my CEIBS interview on 3rd March (received interview invite on 21st Feb, Round-2 applicant, application submitted on 18th Feb, LORs on 19th Feb). There were 2 interviewers.
For those curious minds waiting/preparing for interviews, I was asked 5 questions:
1. You changed your job last year. Did your job role expand? How?
2. Why do you want to quit your job when you are at an extremely good position & location, considering high opportunity cost of MBA?
3. Why CEIBS? why CHINA? Why you applied to other schools? (NUS, HKUST, ISB, HEC, MIT LGO)
4. Short term & long term goles?
5. How will you fund your MBA?

There was no usual Why MBA? Strengths or weakness or achievement or etc etc--No such questions!!! The interview rather lasted for 20 min against 35 min as scheduled. Last 15 min we three were generally discussing China, Hongkong & Singapore Markets, and possibilities in energy domain (I come from energy domain).

I had other interviews as well, but CEIBS was a rather intelligent interview. Their focus was more on realistic status of my preparations to execute my plans rather than my ambitious plans themselves.

Prepare about your industry trends and present position/future of your industry in Chinese/other Asian markets.

I would like to share my interview experience too.

Submitted application on February 16, in a week received an interview invitation, scheduled on February 27. The questions were similar to those stated in  1234567890asdfghjkl  reply.

1. Walk me through your CV
2. Why MBA? Why MBA in China (I was targeting Chinese school in particular.
3. What do I plan to do after graduation (career plans & location)
4. A question about my Chinese language skills ( I took up the courses around a year ago)
5. What is my leadership experience (inc. examples)
The interview lasted for 20 to 30 mins instead of 40 mins scheduled. There were two interviews (assistant director for MBA admission and financial aid (Steven Ji) and a representative of the CEIBS career planning department (sorry, forgot his name)). Actually this was a pleasant discussing, although, especially with Steven, who I met at the top MBA schools forum, which was held in Moscow.
